2014-10-22 OneEightyOne Update

So… it happened again.  David was helping illustrate how safe and secure we are because of the Holy Spirit.

We also had fun creating fruit snack and toothpick mountains.

IN THE WORD THIS WEEK:

James 4James – Faith That Endure: In lesson #3 of our church-wide study in James, we studied James 2:1-13. We learned how God wants us to treat others, especially those who are different from ourselves. We also examined the Biblical terms “favoritism” and the “Royal Law”.

For Discussion:

  1. What are some areas our church needs to be cautious about not showing favoritism?
  2. Would an outsider (someone looking/acting very different from most of us) describe us as loving, welcoming, and accepting, or would they think we play favorites with only those like us?)

TetheredWednesday Youth Group: In our last week of “Tethered: Climbing in Security” we studied how the Holy Spirit can be our source of peace in even the most challenging situations. We were challenged to be peacemakers. We talked about practical ways to make every effort to live at peace with everyone in our lives.

For Discussion:

  1. When you face a conflict, how are you naturally inclined to handle it?
  2. How do you make peace with your family members when there is conflict?
  3. What is one thing you can do this week to purposefully be a peacemaker in your relationships?
